 KIS Wrestlers Whip Rushville in Finale

March 25, 2009 -  The Knightstown Intermediate School wrestling team completed its season with an impressive 78-36 win over Rushville last Wednesday.

The young Panthers, coached by J.B. Muncy and Matt Kennedy, completed their season with a record of 9-10-1. The team placed second in the Henry County Tournament this year, and came in second in an eight-team invitational at Centerville. Knightstown also placed third in the Tri 10-team tourney.

Against Rushville, Knightstown got the convincing win Levi Jessup, Austin Keck, Austin Darling, Dakota Howard, Zach Cleek and Jordan Jessup all picked up wins by pin.

Drew Jessup, J.J. Deberger, Grant Kennedy and Dean Thomas all won their matches by forfeit.

Jack Adkins, Zach Crain, Chris Sanders, Kenny Parham and Nate Daugherty wrestled well against the Lions.

On the season, Dean Thomas was the top KIS Panther wrestler with 20 wins, compiling a record of 20-3-11. Jonah Elder finished the year with 16 wins against just six losses. Nate Dougherty and Paul Wentz both won 14 matches apiece for Knightstown.

Other wrestlers and their win totals on the season include Jack Adkins (13), Zach Cleek (12), Zach Crain (12), Kenny Parham (11), Austin Darling (11), Dakota Howard (11), Chris Saunders (10), Jordan Jessup (10), Grant Kennedy (10), Jordan Truax (9), Evan Dougherty (9), Drew Jessup (8), J.J. Deberger (7), Austin Keck (6), Levi Jessup (4), Chrestian Serlen (4), Mitch Chew (1) and Ray Smith (1).
