4 KHS Athletes Named to Last All-Wrac Winter Teams
March 25, 2009 - Two female and two male Knightstown High School athletes earned All-White River Athletic Conference honors for their respective accomplishments during the winter sports season.
The WRAC All-Conference honors were announced last week and will be the last such awards unless the conference can survive by bringing on new members. The WRAC has lost Wes-Del and Lapel and now consists of just Eastern Hancock, Knightstown and Shenandoah.
Lady Panther sophomore Megan Hiner and junior Danielle Altman were both named to the WRAC girls all-conference team for the Knightstown girls basketball team, which finished in second place in the standings.
Panther junior Jordan Howard was the lone Knightstown athlete to make the All-WRAC wrestling team. Junior Zach Apollos was the only Panther basketball player to be named all-conference as well.
Lady Panther basketball coach Dawn Basicker was also honored as co-coach of the year in the WRAC. Basicker led KHS to a 2-1 conference record and an overall mark of 15-6 this past season. The 15 wins are the most by a Lady Panther basketball team in nearly 20 years.
