 JV Girls Lose Heartbreaker

February 11, 2009 -  Knightstown’s junior varsity girls basketball team ended its season with a 32-30 overtime loss at North Decatur, completing the campaign with an impressive 13-6 record.

The game was tied at the end of regulation at 28-all, but the Lady Panthers could manage just two points in the extra frame. Knightstown shot just 33 percent from the field in the game.

The girls trailed 11-9 after one quarter, but turned things in their favor with a 9-5 second-quarter run to take an 18-16 lead at the intermission. The Lady Panthers led 22-20 after three quarters.

Megan Chew was top scorer for the team with 15 points, hitting on 6-of-9 field goals and 3-of-4 free throws. She also had three rebounds and two steals.

Haley Cruse scored seven points, had four steals, five rebounds and one assist. Sarah Whiteside finished the game with six points, three rebounds, three steals and two assists in a good all-around effort.

Haley Morgan had two points and one steal, while Hannah Smith had four steals, three assists and three rebounds. Ashley Darling pulled down three rebounds while Mahaley Hagy had one rebound and an assist.
