 Howard, KHS Grapplers Prep for Sectional

January 28, 2009 -  Knightstown’s varsity wrestling team continues to show improvement after competing in the Eastern Hancock Invitational last weekend.

The Panther grapplers defeated Indianapolis Manual 42-36, while losing matches against Frankton, Hagerstown, Deaf School and Eastern Hancock.

Jordan Howard had an extremely impressive day, going undefeated at 171 pounds with two pins and a decision. Cory Wisehart (189 pounds) went 3-2 with a pin and a decision, and Dylan Altman was 3-2 with two pins at 215 pounds.

Taylor Cox (160 lbs.), Zac Satterfield (285) and Nic Probst (119) all were credited with three wins as well. Two wins were registered by Nick Dalton (112) and Josh Bledsoe (135). Will McDonald (125), Brandon Hall (130) and Collin Kennedy (140) each had one victory in the match.

The Panther wrestlers fell in a dual match against Deaf School 54-24. Wins were posted by Dalton, Daniels, Howard (pin), Wisehart (pin) and Chris Matthews (pin) on the JV.

In the Knightstown Invitational wrestling tournament, the Panthers defeated Lawrenceburg 48-36, and lost tough battles to Sheridan, Greenfield and Indianapolis Northwest.

Howard had a 4-0 day with four pins. Wisehart also went 4-0 with two pins and a decision. Satterfield and Cox won twice by pins in each match, and Probst won one match by pin.

The boys wrestling sectional is Saturday.
