 7th Grade Spikers Beat Tigers

October 29, 2008 - Knightstown’s seventh grade volleyball team defeated Waldron 25-21, 25-23, to finish the season on a winning note and secure an 8-7 record for the season.

“This was a great win for us,” coach Cindy Hammer said. “Everyone got the chance to play and serve. That’s how we like to end the season, with a full team effort. These girls are a great group, not only as players but as young ladies. I am looking forward to seeing them play at the varsity level.”

Casey Back led the team with nine service points on two aces. She also had one kill and a pass to target. Patty Jones had eight service points on three aces. She had one pass to target and an assist.

Jacquelyn Hastings had six service points on three aces, with three passes to target, one defensive dig and one kill. Jill Gross contributed with a team-high four defensive digs, while also getting one kill and one service point.

Madison Holder had two passes to target, a defensive dig and one service point. Emily Thomas had a service point and one kill, while Sydney Grizzell had two passes to target. Chelsea St. John contributed with one pass to target, Kinzey Stewart had a service point, while Cassandra Cox had a pass to target.

Other teammates who contributed to the win included Hayley Hardeman, Abby Hawkins, Hannah Morgan and Katlyn Lane.
