Bob Jenkins and ATV Stuntman Will Visit Union County Speedway Thursday

August 6, 2008 - When Henry Rife traveled from Van Wert, Ohio to New York to jump eight New York taxi cabs on the Late Night With David Letterman Show, he jokingly complained to Dave that he wanted to jump more cars with his four wheel all terrain-vehicle, but that David did not give him enough space.

Rife will have plenty of room and vehicles to make his jump in the infield at Union County Speedway on Thursday, Aug. 7. Richmond Toyota will supply new vehicles for him to jump at intermission of the USAC Midget Week and non-winged sprint events that night.

The top midget teams in the country will enter, including Tony Stewart Racing drivers Levi Jones and Tracy Hines, and Kasey Kahne Racing drivers Brad Sweet and Brady Bacon.

Liberty native Bob Jenkins will serve as Grand Marshal of the races, and meet fans prior to the 7 p.m. start of the events. Jenkins was born Sept. 4, 1947 in Liberty, and is a television and radio sports announcer best known for his work at ABC and ESPN calling NASCAR and IndyCar telecasts. He started out at WKBV radio in Richmond.

The renovated Union County Speedway is located between Connersville and Liberty on State Route 44, southwest of Richmond. Event information can be obtained by e-mailing tbracefest@aol.com, or by calling 317-418-3216.
