 Diamond Crushers, Pink Panthers, Screaming Eagles All Advance in Optimist Club Tourney

June 25, 2008 - The C&C Cleaning Service Pink Panthers’ run in the girls minor league softball tournament came to an end Friday when the young ladies lost to the Knightstown Meats & Catering Diamond Crushers, 20-9.

The Pink Panthers knocked off the Kozy Kabin Day Spa & Salon Krush in a huge upset, but their magical ride came to an end against the Diamond Crushers.

Karlee Winkhart and Allison Hauk both had tremendous days for the Pink Panthers against the Diamond Crushers. Winkhart went 3-for-3 with a pair of runs scored, and slapped a home run. Hauk had two hits, including a double and a triple, and scored two runs. Rebecca Haney went 2-for-2 with one run.

The Pink Panthers showed great improvement throughout the season, surprising more than a few teams down the stretch. Madi Clarke had a 2-for-3 day with two runs scored, and Jessi Spong also had two hits and scored one run.

Emma Carmichael and Katherine Tielking both hit safely and scored. Addie Edwards and Meghan Cupp had the other hits for the Pink Panthers.

There were no individual results reported for the winning Diamond Crushers.


The top six players in the C&C Cleaning Service Pink Panthers’ lineup combined for 15 runs and 10 hits to lead the team to an 18-17 win over the Kozy Kabin Day Spa & Salon Krush in the girls minor league tournament last week.

Every player on the Pink Panthers’ roster either had a hit or scored a run in the game. Emma Carmichael, Jessi Spong, Karlee Winkhart and Meghan Cupp all went 2-for-3 with three runs scored. Lead-off hitter Allison Hauk was 2-for-4 with two runs, and Addie Edwards went 2-for-3 with one run.

Madi Clarke, Makenna Leisure, Katherine Tielking and Kaitlynn Day all hit safely, while crucial runs were scored by Lindley Prescott and Rebecca Haney.

There were no individual results reported for the Krush.


The Brooks Insurance Screaming Eagles defeated the Kozy Kabin Day Spa & Salon Krush 14-13 in the first game of the tournament last week.

Brookly Johnson and Macy Roberts doubled and went 2-for-3 with two runs scored for the Krush. Paige Halcomb also went 2-for-3 and scored three times, driving in two more runners.

Brittney Keck was 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs, while Becky Muir also had two hits. Bayley Prince, Mahala Knapp, Olivia Knapp and Grace Hastings all had a hit, scored a run and drove in another runner. Brooklyn Harding and Courtney Carlton both hit safely and had an RBI for the Krush.

There were no individual results reported for the Screaming Eagles.
