Former Lady Panther Chelsie Haines Named All-Conference
May 28, 2008 - Anderson University’s Chelsie Haines, a former Knightstown Lady Panther standout athlete, was named to the softball all-conference team at college.
Haines, Erin Garrity, Gretchen Louzon and Kelly Thompson were named to the 22-player All-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference team for the 2008 season on Wednesday.
Haines was third on the team in hitting with a .339 average to go with 38 hits, 21 runs, 12 doubles, one home run, 18 RBIs and a team-high eight stolen bases. She was one of three Ravens to start all 38 games this season.
Garrity led the Ravens in hitting with a .393 average, 46 hits, 29 RBI, 60 total bases and a .513 slugging percentage. She also had 19 runs, nine doubles, one triple, one home run and five stolen bases.
Louzon was second on the team in hitting with a .345 average to go with 38 hits, eight doubles, one home run, 15 runs scored and 10 RBI. On the mound, she was 5-7 with a 3.17 earned run average and eight complete games, including two shutouts. She had 63 strikeouts in 84 innings.
Thompson was fourth on the team in hitting with a 324 average to go with 35 hits, a team-high 13 doubles, one triple, two home runs, 14 runs scored and 19 RBI. On the mound, she was 7-10 with a 2.01 ERA and a team-best 80 strikeouts in 97 innings pitched. She also had 13 complete games and two shutouts.
AU finished the season 16-22 overall and 9-7 in the HCAC, good for fifth place.
