Wyatt Shoots 41, Panther Golfers Clobber Yellow Jackets 180-204
May 21, 2008 - Freshman Joey Wyatt continued to play consistently and the Knightstown varsity golf team had four players break 50 in a 180-204 win over Morristown last week.
Wyatt parred three of the last five holes on his way to a low-medalist 41 at Royal Hylands Golf Club. Nick Hochstedler had two pars and shot a 44, while Colby Lane had two pars on his way to a 47. Kelton Lane shot a 48 with one par, and Craig Denney finished with a 50 after getting bogey on the last five consecutive holes.
Lucas Hochstedler shot a 43 to lead the Panther junior varsity. He had two pars and a birdie. Cody Juday also shot a 44 and Dylan Rossman a 46 as the Panther reserves looked very good on the day. Juday had three pars and Rossman tallied two, and Hunter Cox shot a 54.
The Panthers lost a tight battle to Northeastern, 179-180, in a match played at Highland Lake Golf Club. Wyatt again fired a 41, getting five pars on the day and a share of low medalist honors.
Kenton Lane parred the last hole and finished with a 45 in a good outing. Nick Hochstedler shot a 46, Rossman had two pars and shot 48, while Denney had two pars and finished with a 49. Lucas Hochstedler finished with a 50.
Juday fired a 48 and Cox a 51 for the junior varsity.
Knightstown went up against some of the best competition in the state at the Mooresville Invitational, and the team didn’t play all that well. The competition included the hosts, Beech Grove, Bloomington North, Columbus North, Covenant Christian, Fishers, Greenwood, Lafayette Jeff, Roncalli, Southport and Shelbyville.
The Panthers finished the invitational with a 409. Colby Lane and Nick Hochstedler both shot a 99. Hochstedler had three pars and a birdie, while Lane had three pars. Wyatt managed just two pars on the day and shot a 105. Denney finished with one par while shooting a 106. Kelton Lane fired a 109.
