Haase, Bearhope in State's Top 20 for Batting Average
May 14, 2008 - Seniors Joe Haase and Jordan Bearhope have been having outstanding seasons for the Knightstown Panther baseball team. Haase, who was named all-state last season, is expected to repeat that accomplishment this season.
Bearhope has been making a strong case for all-state himself this season. He is 20th in the state in batting average (.550) with five regular season games to play. Haase is 12th in the state (.575), and both have been on a tear lately.
With two players in the top 20 in batting average in the state, Knightstown is in a rare position. The statistic is even more impressive when one considers there are nearly 400 high school baseball teams and over 6,000 players statewide.
The Panthers have just one home game remaining when Hagerstown visits this Monday, May 19. They travel to Cambridge City Thursday and play in the Henry County Tourney at Shenandoah Saturday. The Panthers end the regular season on May 22 at Morristown.
