Eight Panthers Swinging Monster Bats During Five-Game Win Streak

May 7, 2008 - During the Knightstown Panthers’ five-game winning streak, Joe Haase, Jordan Bearhope and Brice Biehl have been men at bat facing boys on the mound. Although Haase missed one game, the trio has combined in the five-game streak for 31 hits, 36 runs scored, 35 RBIs and a collective .620 batting average.

The Panthers took two from Lapel, 23-5 and 11-6, beat Liberty Christian 11-3, and then swept Wes-Del 10-0 and 16-2. Haase did not play in the Liberty Christian game. During that five-game winning streak, Knightstown outscored its opposition 71-16. The primary reason for that success is the 2-3-4 batting order trio of Biehl-Haase-Bearhope.

But that dynamic threesome isn’t the only reason. Also during the winning streak the Panthers have had major contributions from four more players. Chad Oakes and Rayburn Steinwachs both have hit .500 during the streak, Trey McColley has batted .462 and Levi Blair hit .400. Those four players have combined for 24 runs, 27 hits and 25 RBIs.

Jared Kayajan missed most of the doubleheader against Wes-Del, but has nonetheless gone 4-for-9 with five runs scored during the streak.

Unofficially for the season, Haase is hitting .553 and Bearhope’s average is .550.

Can they keep the streak going? This week will provide a great test. Wednesday, Knightstown hosts Frankton and Thursday the team travels to state-ranked Centerville (11-5) Thursday.
