 Kelton Lane Wins Carroll Award,

  Other Basketball Awards Handed Out

April 2, 2008 - Junior Kelton Lane was named the recipient of the Carroll Award during the Knightstown Panther basketball banquet held recently. The Carroll Award is given to the Knightstown High School boys basketball player showing the best combination of sportsmanship, scholarship and ability during the year.

Lane also received the awards for Most Improved Player and Best Free Throw Percentage (75 percent).

Senior Bryce Cole was presented with the Coaches’ Award, and junior Anthony Hibbert was given the award for Mental Attitude.

Junior Brice Biehl and senior Jordan Bearhope shared the award for Mr. Defense, while sophomore Zach Apollos won both the award for rebounding (9.3 per game) and two-point field goal percentage (55 percent).

Freshman Seth Apollos (38 percent) was presented the award for the highest three-point field goal percentage. Sophomore Colton Kinnaman was the top assist man for the Panthers this past season. Knightstown completed a 9-14 year, losing in the sectional semifinal to eventual champion Eastern Hancock.

Sophomore Drew Martin won the junior varsity award for Mental Attitude, while Travis Titus was named Most Improved and Jordan Hauk was presented with the Coaches’ Award.

Freshman basketball awards were won by Cody McDowell (Mental Attitude), Danny Ortman (Most Improved) and Cody Juday (Coaches’ Award).
