Soccer Team Wins Three Games, on Roll Heading into Tournament

October 3, 2007 - Knightstown’s varsity soccer team won three games last week, defeating Muncie South, Liberty Christian and Baptist Academy of Indianapolis.

Monday night the Panthers whipped Muncie South 6-1. Chad Oakes scored four goals and Brice Cole added one goal and two assists in the big win over the Rebels.

Luke Brishaber also added a goal, and the netter by Brishaber and one by Oakes came on assists from Cole.

The Panthers got two goals from Luke Brishaber, both unassisted, in the win over Liberty Christian. Coach Brad Hibbert said every player on the field stepped up their game for the Panthers, and the team played hard and focused.

The Panthers ripped Baptist Academy 8-0. Brishaber and Josey Fearin both scored three goals for Knightstown, and both got one of those on assists from Brice Cole.

Colby Hartwig scored an unassisted goal, and Bryce George added a goal on an assist from Chase Olsheske.

“The entire team played a very solid game,” Hibbert said. “We did not let down on our intensity. Jared Kayajan was goalie and continues to improve each game. He played very well tonight with the shutout.”

The Panthers open Sectional play at Richmond against New Castle.
