Mike Hurst, Nick Dalton Get Two Wins for Panther Netters
Sept. 26, 2007 - Knightstown Boy's tennis team lost to Guerin last week 4-1, but the Panthers continue to show much improvement despite not having the numbers to compete with a full slate of players. Coach David Blower was pleased with his team’s performance.
“This was it our best match of the year,” Blower said. “We had an opportunity to win for the first time, but lost two out of three tiebreakers.”
Mike Hurst and Nick Dalton won Knightstown’s lone match in the number one doubles battle, defeating Guerin’s Matt Filar and Micah Lustig 6-2 and 7-5.
Number two doubles team Braxton Walker and Mitch Marsischke lost a tough three-set battle in a third set tiebreaker, 6-7 (6-8), 6-3, 7-6 (10-8). Jordan Van Hoy lost another tough match in a tiebreaker as well, falling in number two singles to Chris Wood 6-2 and 7-6 (7-1). Van Hoy fell behind early, but made a great second set comeback, only to lose in the tie breaker.
Kyle Edington fell in number one singles 6-0 and 6-1.
The Panthers will compete in the New Castle Sectional this Thursday.
