 Punks Pick Up Two Wins in Girls Tourney

Punks 15, Pink Ladies 8

In first round tournament action last week, the JP4 Xpress Punks defeated the Knightstown CTA Pink Ladies 15-8.

Angie Smith and Mahaley Hagy both had tremendous days at the plate for the Punks. Smith scored four runs and had two hits, driving in two more runners. Hagy went 4-for-4 with three RBIs and another run scored.

Jocelyn Sturgill, Katie Buckley, Ashkia Howard and Chelsea Howard both plated two runs each for the winners. Abby Wilkerson and Jessica Keck both hit safely, scored and drove in runs for the Punks. Andrea Keck also had a hit and scored.

Ruby Chew went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and one run scored to lead the attack of the Pink Ladies. Maribeth Wells was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and another batted in. Leadoff hitter Caitlan Marsiscke plated three runs, while Pam Crawford drove home two runners and scored for the Pink Ladies. Hannah Doubman had an RBI and Tiffany Spence scored a run in the game.

Hagy picked up the win on the mound for the Punks, who advanced in the winner’s bracket to play the Wildcats.

 

Punks 15, Wildcats 8

Mahaley Hagy pitched a complete game and Angie Smith had four hits to pace the JP4 Xpress Punks over the Hancock Telecom Wildcats 15-8 in tournament action last Thursday.

The Punks pounded out 17 hits in the assault. Angie Smith went 4-for-4 with four RBIs. Chelsea Howard was 2-for-4 with a double, three runs scored and three more batted in. Jocelyn Sturgill had a hit, an RBI and plated three runs for the Punks.

Hagy, Jessica Keck and Samantha Kuhn all had two hits, an RBI and a run scored. Katie Buckley had two RBI, a run scored and a base hit, while Ashkia Howard plated two runs on one hit and an RBI. Abby Wilkerson singled and drove in a runner, while Andrea Keck singled and scored in the contest.

Brittany Brown had a double, scored twice and drove home a runner to pace the offense of the Wildcats, who suffered their first tournament loss.

Chelsie White drove home three runners, while hits and runs were registered by Shay Pope, Ashlee Wilkerson, Rachel True, Morgan Helderbrand, Kayla Truax and Samantha Maroska.
