 Pat Small Hosts WCTU Meeting

June 4, 2008 - The Knightstown Woman's Christian Temperance Union met May 19 at the home of Patricia Small in Rushville with 10 members present. The meeting was opened by President Vonda Gross by pledging allegiance to the flags and the membership pledge. The members sang "This is the day that the Lord hath made."

Devotions were given by Charlotte Hosman. The theme was" A Mother's Love." She used as her scripture Proverbs 31:28 and Psalms 9:10. She read the poem "Faith of Our Mothers."

Lavelle Meeks, Christian Outreach Director, reported that the WCTU day of prayer on September 28 is being planned. She read an article from the Banner about the problems with drugs in our little village. The State Education Director, Vonda Gross, presented the posters to be sent to National in the poster contest. There will also be coloring sheets sent for the contest. Care baskets were filled to be given to shut-ins.

The program was given by Lavelle Meeks with a book report on Ella Boole, an early pioneer of the organization. Sarah Ward gave a presentation on her trip to Korea and Japan as the World President. The meeting was dismissed with prayer by Avis Hawkins and refreshments were served by the hostess.
