 Haase Leads Clever Clovers Meeting

April 16, 2008 - President Joe Haase led the April 7 Clever Clovers 4-H Club meeting held at the Knightstown United Methodist Church.

The American and 4-H flag pledges were led by Evan Adams and Abbie Winters. Seventeen members gave their middle name as the answer to roll call. Minutes were read by Secretary Casie Conley, and Jordan VanHoy gave the treasurer's report.

A $10 late fee is now due for those enrolling after the April 1 deadline. Club members may, however, still enroll and add or drop projects until June 1.

Members will help the local post office collect food for the food pantry on May 10. The community will be asked to leave food items in bags on their front porches on that day and the 4-H club will pick them up as a community service project. The display of the 4-H banner at the elementary school was made possible with the help of members Jackson Lukens, Leah Cline, Evan Adams, Wade Griffin and Salina Hamm.

Sheep and Goat weigh in will be on May 10 from 8-11 a.m. and PQA certification for swine members will take place May 19 and June 26 at 6 p.m. Members may contact the extension office for more information on these events.

Cole Fort reported that the barrel project for the 4-H fair is in the planning stages and he will be contacting committee members soon.

Foam board and plastic covering for poster projects is now available at the extension office. The club plans to have a lemon shake-up stand again this year at Jubilee Days, May 28-30. All members are expected to work a shift.

Demonstrations were given as follows: Kori Biehl - How to make brownies; Abby Winters and Olivia Goodman - How to put together a fashionable outfit; and Janice Ortman - How to make a healthy snack.

For recreation, Leah Cline led the club in a game designed to help members learn more about each other. The Winters and Sturgill families provided refreshments.

The next meeting will be held on May 12, at 6:30 p.m. at Knightstown United Methodist Church.
