 Janet Davidson Hosts Alpha Zetas

Oct. 24, 2007 - The Alpha Zeta chapter of Kappa Kappa Kappa met October 9 at the home of Janet Davidson, with members Kathy Zelinga, Dorothy Hatton and Barb Estridge serving as co-hosts.

President Nancy Gross conducted the meeting, which was attended by 30 members. Jill Null read the minutes and Vee Ann Schmidt presented the treasurer’s report. A note of appreciation from the Panther basketball team was read, and members were encouraged to attend the sponsorship night game on December 8.

Orders for nuts and cheese balls were collected, and plans for cheese ball preparation were discussed. Mary Jo Purtee urged all chapter members to participate in “The Big Read: Henry County Reads The Great Gatsby.” Janet Linch announced plans for Alpha Zeta’s 100th anniversary celebration, which will feature a birthday tea at 2 p.m. on March 15. The chapter also approved a request to cosponsor a Knightstown High School sophomore at the upcoming Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership Seminar.

Chapter officers Nancy Gross, Schmidt and Shannon Dawson attended the Province Workshop on October 6 and reported on an informative and inspirational experience. State Philanthropy committee member Kristin Haase noted that Tri Kappa will continue to focus support on Riley Hospital, the Ronald McDonald House and Camp Riley.

Davidson was the lucky winner of the Halloween Goody Basket raffle. Following the meeting, members enjoyed cider, doughnuts and fellowship. The evening concluded with Davidson’s witty review of The Cross Keys, Tri Kappa’s official publication.

The entire chapter will meet Monday, November 12, at 6:30 p.m. in the Knightstown Elementary School Cafeteria for cheese ball preparation. The regular meeting and completion of the cheese ball project will follow on Tuesday, November 13, also at 6:30 p.m., at the school.
