Local Literary Clubs Hold Joint Meeting at Church

November 15, 2006 - The Avon Literary Club entertained the Shakespeare Club on November 6 at Bethel Presbyterian Church in Knightstown.

Members of each club introduced themselves and Shakespeare Club President Stephanie True was acknowledged by Avon Club President Pat Lake.

Program Chairman Barbara Carter welcomed everyone and then turned the program over to Lake, who presented her program on quilting history and techniques. She also displayed quilts she and her grandmother made. Sue Bearhope also displayed some of the quilts she has collected over the years. Lake said quilting is no longer just a utilitarian pasttime; it has become an art.

Refreshments were served by the host club. The next Avon Club meeting will be December 4 at the Henshaw House.
