 Betty L. Newkirk

 August 14, 1921 - November 15, 2011

Betty L. Newkirk photo     Betty L. Newkirk, 90, of Dunreith, died Nov. 15 at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield.
     She was born Aug. 14, 1921, in Dunreith, a daughter of the late Glen and Marie (Huddleson) McDonald.
     Mrs. Newkirk retired from Draper Shade and Screen in Spiceland. She was a member of Dunreith Christian Church, RST Club, Home Economics Club, Rebecca in the Odd Fellows organization, a 50-year member of Spiceland-Lewisville Order of the Eastern Star #463 and past president of the Spiceland American Legion Post Auxiliary.
     Survivors include a son, James G. (wife, Linda) Newkirk of Knightstown; six grandchildren, James B. Newkirk, Andrea K. Wells, Kelley Sitton, Andrew Newkirk, Brad Frost and Rob Frost; nine greatgrandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Virginia Newkirk of Spiceland; a brother, Russell McDonald; three sisters, Geraldine Perry, Ruth Pickering and Dorothy Lingerfelt; and several nieces and nephews.
     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Newkirk; a son, David Newkirk; a granddaughter, Allison Newkirk; two brothers, Bob and Max McDonald; and a sister, Gladys Lacy.
     Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Randy Gross officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Visitation is Thursday, Nov. 17, from 11 a.m. until time of services.
