Big Blue Watershed Meeting Tuesday at Westwood Park

December 3, 2008 - The Henry County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) will host a meeting for anyone who lives near, works with or plays in the Big Blue River watershed. The meeting will take place Tuesday, December 9, at 6:30 p.m. at the Big Blue River Conservancy building at Westwood Park.

The watershed area includes the following towns and their surrounding areas: Mt. Summit, Cadiz, Westwood, Greensboro, New Castle, Knightstown, Kennard, Spiceland, Dunreith and Carthage. The topic of the meeting is “What is a watershed and Why is it Important to Me?”

The SWCD’s new Big Blue River Watershed Coordinator, Elisa Grafford, will be on hand to discuss various issues, including high levels of E. coli bacteria found in the watershed over the last 10 years. Grafford will also discuss ways in which these levels can be reduced.

Those who plan to attend the meeting should RSVP by calling 765-529-2303, ext. 3. Light refreshments will be provided.
