 New CAB Officers Elected

July 9, 2008 - In addition to the election of new officers, several committee appointments for the coming year were also named at the Charles A. Beard School Board's July 1 meeting.

New board members Steve Dalton and Mark Fort will join Wade Beatty as members of the board's finance committee, with Leah Kopp serving as the alternate. Beatty will also serve on the board's teacher contract negotiating team, along with Board President Kevin Knott and new board member Mark Fort, who will be the alternate.

Kopp accepted an appointment to be the board's representative for both special and vocational education. New board member Tim Wehr agreed to serve as the board's legislative liaison.

The board voted to retain Michelle Swift as CAB's treasurer, and voted unanimously to designate Gary Storie, CAB's new superintendent, as the corporation's public access officer. Jena Schmidt, administrative assistant to the superintendent, had served as CAB's public access officer since the start of the 2006-2007 school year.

Board members voted unanimously to keep their yearly salary set at $2,000. Fort and Dalton, who both said during their campaigns that they would not accept the salary if elected, both said they intend to honor their pledges and find a way to make sure any money paid to them is returned to CAB.
