Community Day Event Set for Friday, June 20

June 4, 2008 - Make a Difference Knightstown, Psi Iota Xi sorority and the St. Rose Men’s Club are joining forces to put on Knightstown Community Day on Friday, June 20.

The event will take place on Knightstown’s Public Square from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Entertaining, featuring a disc jockey and the golden oldies band Yesterday will perform from 6-9 p.m. According to Norm Bohnert of Make a Difference Knightstown, food will be served from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. in the “Outdoor Diner.”

“Last year, a smaller version of this event generated lots of excitement,” Bohnert said. “A huge group of area citizens joined the celebration and had a great time. We feel the addition of the gas card giveaway will make it even more popular.”

A main feature of the event will be a raffle featuring over 100 gas cards valued at $10-$100. The cards will be financed by various event sponsors and officials will begin raffling off the gift cards at noon.

Later in the afternoon, at 5:30 p.m., area classic car owners are invited to cruise their cars around the Public Square.

“Home foreclosures, the credit crunch, rising gas prices … there is enough misery to go around,” Bohnert said. “Each presents another challenge. We need some good news. This will be a day to put all those worries aside and celebrate. Everyone in the Knightstown area is invited to join the fun.”

Event sponsors are still needed for this event. Those interested in sponsoring may contact Bohnert at 317-694-0517.
