 CAB Employees, Students Recognized for Good Deeds

February 13, 2008 - Several students, school corporation employees and members of the public were recognized at last night's meeting of the Charles A. Beard School Board for recent accomplishments and good deeds.

Students receiving special recognition from CAB's interim superintendent, Ray Pavy, included:

*Library Dictionary Race winners Noah Wilson (1st), Jarrett Weidner (2nd) and Jackson Edwards (3rd);

*Jarrett Weidner for maintaining high academic scores despite adversity;

*Cymbre Hoover, Kira Smith, Makayla Bowling, Cora Sherman, Emily Loveall, Kasen Kinnaman, Cameron Dean, Nova Hager, Olivia Jordan, Greta Reydell, Emma Carmichael, Tucker Personett, Kaleb Buchanan, Kori Wright, Katherine Tielking, Gary Roberts, Hannah Apollos, Allicia Wilfong, Emma Grubbs, John Lukens, Cora Nolen, Ben Willey, Brock Harding, Spencer Mattix, Tori McDonald and Lacy Thomas for being KES Self-Discipline Students of the Month;

*KHS freshman boys basketball team for winning their second consecutive Henry County championship;

*Devyn Schaetzle, Elizabeth Moore, Hannah Frost, Levi Holder and Jacob Haste for being the top Lexile students at Kennard Elementary;

*Kyler Schaetzle for mastering his multiplication facts in just five weeks;

*Ryan Johnson for reading through the Reading Trophy requirements three times; and

*Annie Moore and Ryan Johnson for creating the Reading Rocks gym wall display.

Pavy also recognized the following CAB employees:

*Bus mechanic Nelson White for a perfect passing rate for midyear, as well as last summer and mid-year 2007;

*Mindy Conklin, Kristin Crawford, Julie Lewman, Linda King, Katie Calvert, Judy Sadler and Cynthia McDonald for organizing and leading Math Curriculum Prioritization;

*Katie Calvert for showing compassion and professionalism after the loss of a student;

*Susie Leonard and Tracey McDaniel for assisting students and staff after the loss of a student; and

*David Bundy, Susie Leonard and Jena Schmidt for their efforts to ensure submission of an application for a grant to acquire funds for an elementary social worker.

Members of the public receiving recognition were: David Bundy, Don House, Sunshine Harding and the Knightstown community for their support of a community member in need; and Angela Moore, Angela Halicki and Lisa Byrd for serving on the elementary textbook adoption committee.

Pavy also gave special thanks to Maintenance Director Mike McKillip and the CAB maintenance staff for their work repairing the boiler at Knightstown Elementary earlier this week.
