Henry County Democrats Endorse Guffey and Pflum
February 6, 2008 - The Henry County Democratic Party held its first meeting of 2008 last week, and endorsed the area’s only Democrat incumbents.
Party Chairman Steve Clark told The Banner that nearly 50 Democrats attended the January 29 meeting at the New Castle-Henry County Public Library. He said all in attendance voted unanimously to endorse reelection bids of Henry County Sheriff's Dept. Det. Stacey Guffey, the current county coroner, and Phil Pflum of Milton, state representative for District 56.
"We, as leaders of the Democratic Party, feel that these two candidates have always been very supportive of their party," Clark said. "We feel that this was the right thing to do to show our support for them in hope the endorsements will give them the best chance of winning in the November election."
The party plans to hold a "Meet the Candidates" pork chop dinner fundraiser on Saturday, April 19. Cost of the meal, which will be held in the Smith Building (downstairs) at New Castle's Memorial Park, is $10 in advance, $12 at the door.
