County Library Welcomes Guests to Monthly Book, Movie Review

January 16, 2008 - New Castle-Henry County Public Library invites readers and movie-lovers to come to “A Novel Review” on Thursday, January 24, at 6:30 p.m. This monthly book club will take place in the library auditorium and will feature a film that is based on a book. There will be pastries and coffee from Starbucks served at this free event. After watching the film, participants are invited to talk about the book, movie, or both. Participants are not required to read the book to discuss the film and its story.

This month’s featured book and film is The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri. In this story, a family finds their way through an immigrant experience. As their traditional Indian culture clashes with the American culture that surrounds them, generations struggle to coexist meaningfully.

In February, plan to read The Jane Austen Book Club by Karen Joy Fowler and watch the film based on the movie on Thursday, February 21, at 6:30 p.m. In this story, a book group meets monthly to discuss a Jane Austen book and find their lives rivaling the drama found in the books they discuss.

For more information about “A Novel Review,” call Debi Simmonds at 765-529-0362, ext. 310, or log on to www.nchcpl.org.
