Teen’s Death May Have Resulted from Overdose

August 15, 2007 - The Henry County Sheriff's Department has confirmed it is investigating the death of an 18-year-old Knightstown woman last month as a possible drug overdose.

HCSD Detective Elmer New told The Banner last week that investigators are awaiting toxicology results he hopes will confirm whether a drug overdose caused the July 23 death of Cassandra Taylor. "That's what we're looking into now," New said. "We're waiting for test results to come back, but that's what we think it was."

The person who made the 911 call that brought medics and police to Taylor's home at 304 S. Jefferson at about 6:45 a.m. also believed Taylor had suffered an overdose. The caller, who identified himself as a friend of Taylor's father, made two references during the 76-second call - which the HCSD released to The Banner - to Taylor overdosing on heroin, and reported that she was already deceased when they found her.
