Another Administrator Leaving CAB
June 27, 2007 - Administrative turnover continues within the Charles A. Beard Memorial School Corporation, with news of yet another departure coming last week.
Dan Jack, vice principal at Knightstown High School, is leaving to become the assistant principal at Greenfield-Central High School. The GC School Board unanimously approved Jack's hiring at its June 18 meeting, and he is scheduled to start his new job August 1.
Speaking to The Banner last week, Jack said his decision to leave Knightstown was prompted, in part, by professional development goals.
"The Knightstown community has treated me wonderfully for the eight years that I've been here," Jack said. "I just needed to get experience in a different school corporation to make me a better administrator." While Knightstown isn't far from Greenfield, where the 30-year-old Jack lives with his wife and son, he said he is looking forward to working closer to home. "It's the community that we live in," he said. "I guess I'm most looking forward to working with students I know, either from friendships or from church-related or community activities."
Jack's annual salary at KHS is currently $60,485. According to Christy Hilton, GC's human resources director, the salary for the assistant principal's position GCHS is $69,500, but may be increased by the school board sometime in August. In addition to Jack, CAB is also losing at least three of its other administrators. KHS Principal Jim Diagostino and Superintendent David McGuire are leaving for jobs at Tri-West High School and Elkhart Community Schools, respectively, and Knightstown Elementary Principal Tony Triarsi has retired. So far, only Triarsi's position has been filled, although Diagostino's replacement could be named during a special CAB School Board meeting Tuesday evening.
