 KHS Diplomas Bear Wrong Name

June 6, 2007 - Members of Knightstown High School's 2007 graduating class will be issued new diplomas due to a printing error.

Instead of the signature of Superintendent David McGuire, the diplomas featured the signature of Hal Jester, the Charles A. Beard Memorial School Corp.'s former superintendent. Jester's employment at CAB ended June 30, 2006.

McGuire told The Banner that the error does not make the diplomas issued to the students invalid. However, he said arrangements have been made to have corrected diplomas issued.

KHS Principal Jim Diagostino told The Banner on Monday that the error was the result of an oversight on the part of Herff Jones, the company that printed the diplomas. He said the Herff Jones representative who works with CAB had been told there was a new superintendent and that the company's printing facility, although notified of the change, had failed to get McGuire's signature.

Because it was Herff Jones' error, Diagostino said new diplomas with McGuire's name on them will be printed at no expense to students or CAB. Students or parents wanting more information about when the new diplomas will arrive or how they will be distributed should contact KHS at 345-5153.
