 Winners Named in Poster Contest

April 25, 2007 - The Carthage Elementary School library has a poster contest for National Library Week in April of each year.

This year the third and fourth grade classes had separate subjects to do on their posters. Third grade had the fiction genre. The students could do a poster about mystery fiction, sports fiction, or a nonfiction topic such as the arts, 800-899. Fourth grade had Indiana authors as a topic. The posters were voted on by students and staff. This was a hard job because there were many good posters.

Third grade winners are: first place, Brooke Vice (pure science, 500-599); second place, Alex Fields (mystery fiction); third place, Erinn Stamm (arts, 800-899); fourth place, Riley Ruble (historical fiction); fifth place, Jarrett Weidner (military fiction); sixth place, Britney Taylor (cartoon fiction).

Fourth grade winners are: first place, Sam (Cody) Hammons (Jim Davis); second place, Leah Heim (Emily Kimbrough); third place, Caleb Davis (Phyllis Naylor); fourth place, Dylan Combs (Margaret Hill McCarter); fifth place, Jacob Foust, (Gene Stratton-Porter); sixth place, Fran Bergen (Bill Peet).
