Knightstown Chamber of Commerce Elects New Officers

February 7, 2007 - The Knightstown Chamber of Commerce (COC) is looking to improve electric service on the town’s Public Square.

During last Thursday’s regular monthly meeting, chamber board members discussed electrical problems vendors have had at past chamber events, such as Fall Fest and Jubilee Days. They said some vendors at events on the Public Square have been forced to buy special plugs and extension cords in order to acquire electricity. Some vendors even had to do without power. Vendors who rent booth space from the chamber are told electricity will be available at the respective festivals.

Chamber members said they’d like to correct the problem and are willing to pay the town for necessary upgrades to electric on the square. The group agreed to seek an estimate from the town for such work. In other chamber news, dates were announced for two prominent chamber events, Fall Fest and Jubilee Days. Jubilee Days will take place on May 30 –June 2 while Fall Fest runs October 15-16. The Citizen of the Year banquet has not yet been scheduled, nor has the chamber’s annual queen contest.

New chamber officers were elected recently. Randy Riggs will serve as president. Della Cathcart was elected vice president. The chamber treasurer is Joni Roberts and Erin Winters will serve as secretary to the board.

The chamber’s 15-member board is as follows: Randy Riggs, Della Cathcart, Joni Roberts, Erin Winters, Greg Hochstedler, Roger Haynes, Bill Windsor, Clarence Post, Sue Hood, Steve Brooks, Neil Shaneyfelt, Emily McCorkle, Helen Gorman, David Glen and John Butler.
